Advice for FIGHTING FLU
During this cold/flu season, many are eschewing the typical flu shot and the regular Flu meds and looking for something better for their bodies. Consumers are more conscious of what they put into their bodies. Instead of known chemicals, they want a remedy that can relieve their symptoms quickly and turn to organic and natural aids.
We offer the following strategies to stay healthy during this stressful time of the year: 1. Maintain a healthy lifestyle. Get 8 hours of sleep, relax often, eat moderately, drink plenty of pure water and decrease consumption of alcohol, coffee, and sugar. Sugar almost immediately decreases immune function. 2. Viruses are often passed by touch. Wash your hands frequently and avoid shaking hands with those who are already sick. That is one thing that hospitals DO right, in that they are constantly washing their hands….there is a reason for that, which is pretty self-explanatory. 3. Make choices that promote strong immune function. A few examples include: switching from coffee to tea consumption which has antibacterial and antiviral action; eating garlic liberally, for its antibacterial, antiviral and anti-fungal activity; and taking Udo’s probiotic, as it sets up a beneficial situation in the colon, helping to strengthen this underpinning of good health. 4. Useful early homeopathic prevention includes the use of Oscillococcinum or other potentised flu products or Ferrum phos cell salt for early stages of feverish conditions. Sometimes these homeopathic medicines can stop an illness in the early stages. We recommend Toericke & Tafel which are available without alcohol as cough and bronchial syrups. 5. As a prevention measure, take a good high potency multivitamin-mineral, with at least 1000 mg. vitamin C, 50,000 IU vitamin A (unless pregnant), 400 IU vitamin E, 15 mg. zinc and 25+ mg. of the B vitamins. Most good health food stores have several excellent selections. In addition, we recommend Amla Vitamin C. Adrenal glands play an important role in the immune system, and we should all take a good adrenal formula year around, actually. Pure Health Foods recommends an animal-free adrenal (insert name of product, K or S) In addition, an excellent Vitamin C is Amla. 6. At the very FIRST sign of colds/flu, put a dropper of peroxide into your ears, hold ears shut for a few minutes (you may hear the peroxide fizzing). Repeat at least 3 times a day for a couple of days. Pure Health Foods has food-grade hydrogen peroxide in stock. 7. If at all possible, STAY HOME WHILE YOU ARE SICK! And do NOT send your children to school when they are sick. Children don’t abide or understand the rules of non-transmissions of germs. 8. Simple as it may sound, always COVER your mouth when you sneeze and wash your hands as soon as possible. Purchase an all-natural hand sanitizer, free of chemicals, that is good for in-between hand washings. Carry one with you and use after touching door knobs, grocery cart handles, and anything else where germs are waiting to attack. |
